A main track switch must always be protected. If it cannot be protected by a crew or dispatcher/control operator, then it must be restored to normal position prior to departing the location. The correct answers reflect this. The switch can remain open because a member of the crew is there to protect the switch. A track warrant with box 13 marked authorizes the main track switch to be left in the reverse position.
